Taster for the certificated course in Intercultural Competence in English

27 Oct 2012

We are pleased to welcome on the afternoon of the 27 October 2012 in the Murnau Saal (third floor) of the VHS Bielefeld Judith Mader, head of languages at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management and author of Testing and Assessment in Business English, and Rudolf Camerer, former head of TELC and currently head of European Language Competence to present a Taster Workshop with aspects of their certificated training the trainers course "Intercultural Competence in English". The seminar will give participants an opportunity to find out more about the training the trainer courses in intercultural competence in English. We all know students whose knowledge the grammar and vocabulary of English is good but their words still sound like "Google Translate" - the point of Intercultural competence is to develop the use of English (in our case) as a means of communication in intercultural contacts. The ideas, principles and practices of Intercultural competence are useful to a broad range of English language teachers including those working in companies as well as those teaching Business English either in Volkshochschule or in private language schools. The timetable for the half day workshop is: 13:00 Light lunch and refreshments 14:00 - 15:30 Taster Workshop (part I) 15:30 - 16:00 Coffee break 16:00 - 17:30 Taster Workshop (part II) 17:30 - 18:00 Refreshments and farewells
